This week’s newsletter is going to be a little different than in weeks past. While we did have a fuller higher education lineup planned, events in recent days have forced my time into other directions. Hopefully next week we will return to our regularly scheduled programing.
Welcome back to Week 25 in my weekly reports analyzing the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on the country and higher education.
This week, after months of downplaying the virus and going against his own agency’s health guidance, President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and a host of other individuals tested positive for Covid-19; the president has been hospitalized and his exact condition is unknown. Our thoughts are with the president and all infected for a speedy recovery.
Along with a small team, I am in the process of tracing over 200 contacts in connection with the White House outbreak as a service to the American people. There are many events to examine, including the Supreme Court nomination ceremony last Saturday, an indoor event prior to the ceremony, the debate on Tuesday, a rally and fundraiser in Minnesota, a fundraiser in New Jersey, and more.
You can follow our tracker here, which is updated in real-time. We will continue post updates and follow the outbreak. I am almost certain that there will be more positives in the days ahead.
And if you’re interested in the latest on college outbreaks, here’s this week’s dashboard update and college towns dashboard.
My best to all for good health.
