We started by going to the Forbidden City [which is literally called “The Purple City”]. We walked around the inner court and the outer court. The Forbidden City had mountains and seas of people [a Chinese expression to say a lot of people]! Afterwards we went to eat lunch. Today we ate authentic Beijing food. Everyone enjoyed it.
We took the bus to the Temple of Heaven. We saw a wood model of the temple. It was made out of 11180 wooden pieces. After we saw the [real] temple, we went to Nanluoguxiang [one of the most famous shopping alleys in Beijing]. Some people bought T-shirts, and others bought Starbucks! We took a rickshaw through a hutong. We got off the rickshaw and entered into someone’s house. He was a kung fu master, and was 59 years old. Next year, he is going to retire. The guide taught us how to make dumplings. You first take the dough [round shape], then you put cabbage inside. Then, you fold the dumpling. The kung fu master’s wife made really good food. After we ate we went back to the hotel to relax and sleep.
